we all dream with you and for you…chickens in your backyard.
the perfect Henrietta WILL come into your life very soon.
Thank you for joining my dream, Adrina! A good point – how to name the chickens?
Mmmmm….
Fresh eggs for a couple of years and then – when they stop laying’ – Stewed chicken N” dumplings for dinner. Just like Gramma used to make!
Tanja- good luck with your Mission chickens! I love that neighborhood and think chickens are totally appropriate. Becky gave me your website today and we are in a similar phase right now. I just bought my light, feeder, and watering container and will go back first thing Saturday to pick up my chicks. I am so excited!!! Feel free to link to my website and I will do the same with yours.
Jesse
Awesome, thanks Jesse! I’ll definitely add your blog to the link list. Light? Why do you/chickens need a light?
Oh for chrissakes, NO! Chicken coops stink! I certainly wouldn’t want my neighbors to have a chicken coop next door to me. Are you kidding me?????? This is an urban environment with houses on zero lot lines. ARE you kidding me? Have you lost your mind. how about I raise goats in my back yard and the guy on the other side of you have a couple of cows, and then maybe somebody could have a couple of horses two doors down. You are crazy and you probably have never been to a real farm and realized the smells they can bring.
whya such hater ruby? we heart chickens in the city!
They need to stay over 90 degrees for the first three weeks. I just got 11 little chicks (they are 4-5 days old now) and the are peeping happily right now in my downstairs bathroom. Have you tracked down a source for adult hens? Your coop looks quite luxurious- I still need to build one and am looking over various designs right now, though I still have a month of them living inside with me. Check out my blog for some chick pics…
